چکیده

Summary A pseudo‐multi impulse (PMI) is proposed as an extension of the ordinary base‐input multi substituting a long‐duration, long‐period ground motion which can often be simulated by multi‐cycle sine wave (MSW). PMI treated multitude impulsive lateral forces and hardly excites higher‐mode responses elastic multi‐degree‐of‐freedom (MDOF) models because undamped fundamental participation vector adopted influence coefficient vector. It shown that critical time interval obtained without any repetition. This enables smart derivation response. The displacement transfer functions are derived for MDOF models, where two kinds vectors adopted: (1) one at every component (conventional one) (2) fundamental‐mode demonstrated efficiently accurately evaluate maximum under MSW input period elastic–plastic models. Furthermore, extended to treat case second eigenmode. Finally, applied high‐rise buildings investigation into energy cumulative plastic deformation ductility demand.

Response of Buildings with Inclined First-Story Columns to Near-Fault Ground Motion

In this paper a simple model of a three story building with inclined first-story columns has presented. The stories are supposed to be rigid and are connected to axially rigid mass less columns by elasto-plastic rotational springs and linear rotational dampers. The considered model is subjected to horizontal component of fault normal pulse with different magnitudes and the governed nonlinear di...

Critical Response of 2DOF Elastic–Plastic Building Structures under Double Impulse as Substitute of Near-Fault Ground Motion

The double impulse is introduced as a substitute of the fling-step near-fault ground motion and a critical elastic–plastic response of a two-degree-of-freedom (2DOF) building structure under the “critical double impulse” is evaluated. Since only the free-vibration appears under such double impulse, the energy balance approach plays an important and essential role in the derivation of the soluti...

Critical Response of Single-Degree-of-Freedom Damped Bilinear Hysteretic System under Double Impulse As Substitute for Near-Fault Ground Motion

A double impulse input is used as a substitute for near-fault earthquake ground motions. An explicit expression is derived on the maximum elastic–plastic response of a singledegree-of-freedom damped structure with bilinear hysteresis under the “critical double impulse input” which causes the maximum response for variable impulse interval with the input level kept constant. Owing to the existenc...
